Vacuoles

Vacuoles are basically the storage space of the cell, storing materials such as water, salts, proteins, and carbohydrates in these saclike structures. Plant cells contain a larger central vacuole filled with liquid which creates a pressure that makes it possible for plants to support heavy structures such as leaves and flowers. Vacuoles are also found in animal cells, just slightly smaller, and often referred to as vesicles.
