Cell Membrane

The cell membrane regulates what enters and leaves the cell and also provides protection and support. The cell takes in food and water and eliminates waste through the cell membrane. The cell membrane is made up of a lipid bilayer, with protein molecules that run through it and the carbohydrate chains that are attached to the outer surface of the proteins. The cell membrane facilitates such processes as diffusion and osmosis.
