Metroid Prime Review

Blu again, I have played Metroid Prime, and completed that as well. The game looks and sounds great right when you pick up the controller. It has all the classic music, and enemies from the original Metroid, and the original Metroid itself! If you have beaten Metroid fusion, you can unlock Metroid for the NES by linking the two together, but this is a review for Metroid Prime, so back to Metroid Prime. As you probably already know, the game is a first person shooter, except for when you transform into Samus' patented morph-ball. You only get one gun, but the gun has the ability to cycle (using the C stick) through 4 different beam weapons. Another cool aspect of the game is Samus' Visor. You see the entire game as if you were looking out of this visor. It also has four different functions that you can cycle through with the D-pad.

The graphics in the game are amazing. Everything is smooth, and has great color. All the surroundings are greatly detailed, and you can even use the Scan Visor to examine them in more detail. When you walk past a vent, your visor will fog. When it is raining, water will hit your visor. When you kill an enemy, blood will splatter on the visor. And the coolest part of all, when a bright light flashes directly in front of Samus, her face will reflect on the inner side of the visor, letting you see her moving and blinking eyes. Also, for the first time ever, you can see Samus' face through her visor when you see her in third person.

The music in the game always fits the mood. When you are searching for a weapon, and you feel a little unprepared for battle, the music will be almost silent, But once you find a new add on to your suit, you will hear guitar riffs and drum beats. Each area has its own type of music, mostly remastered classics, and definitely catchy.

The game itself lacks a breathtaking storyline, but the gameplay makes up for that. You will scan key points in the game that reveal Tallon IV's, and Samus' past, which makes things more interesting. The bosses are in original Metroid style of course. At first glance they look impossible, but after some scanning, a battle plan can be made, and victory will be much closer. I would say that this game is a must have, mostly because it will become such a classic.
