The M Phase is in reality the shortest part of the cell cycle, but it seems that the bulk of the important happenings occur during this phase. The M Phase is actually divided again into two other phases: Mitosis and Cytokinesis. In the M Phase the cell takes the replicated DNA and organelles from Interphase and splits into two genetically identical daughter cells.
