Inkberry

The Inkberry (Ilexglabra) is an evergreen holly growing to around 10 ft, with distinct male and female plants and producing fleshy black berries. Its leaves are leathery, blunt tipped with a notch near the tip, and usually toothless. It has smooth bark and its twigs are finely gray-hairy, short stubby spur branches with crowed leaf scars. It is another indigenous plant to this area. Its leaves can be used to make tea, but we are using it in this area as a rain-purifying source for the marshes.
